Abstract Fire Phoenix

[smartslider3 slider=7]

A highly abstract fire-phoenix created using detailed, Chinese inspired watercolor. The positioning and structure of the body intended to compose more of the background with color contrasts and texturing throughout the tail feathers taking pride of place. Even the eyes of the phoenix assume a significantly stylized form, intended to show the positioning and movement of the element rather than any say highly-realistic representation. This technique echos some specialized Chinese painting traditions. There are further shading gradations for certain parts of the painting after applied as a tattoo with, for example, the finished flames around the wings taking on a comparatively muted aesthetic. This art work was designed as a upper torso composition with the head and tails of the phoenix on opposing shoulders. Photos of the finished body art will be posted shortly
