A single Chinese calligraphy character tattoo placed on the left pectoral, created in a strong fluid movement using dark black ink that identically mirrors its appearance on canvas. Although conveying a pronounced rectangular shape there is still playful movement through the use of strokes and contrasts. Chinese calligraphy is perhaps one of the most dynamic and potentially expressive of art forms, capturing the mood or ‘energy’ during creation like no other style of composition. This specific writing was selected from a number of hand-prepared variations and represents the client’s children – each of whom contain the same single character in their names.
